Ground Stone knife

A primitive styled knife crafted to be reminiscent of a pre-contact native american cutting utensil. This example started with a  mottled red stone piece which was ground to desired shape and then hafted with a shad plum branch. The stone is known as Swanton red from Swanton, Vermont. The handle is from Underhill, Vermont. The binding is rawhide and it is finished with a beeswax/oil  mixture.
