These scoops are a very old tool concept and were hand carved from whatever available. Often made from plain softer wood they are fairly easy to carve and can be very useful. Some of these are black cherry, butternut and maple finished with a food safe beeswax and oil wood butter. Today many are used as decorative curiosities.
